Call for Instructors – 2012

The call for instructors for AcappellaFest 2012 is now open!

To be considered as a workshop leader and/or masterclinician for Acappellafest 2012 (University of Chicago 10/20/12), complete the application form by Friday 18 May. We welcome proposals for workshops on any aspect of a cappella music: from technique and arrangement through performance and recording to history and criticism.

You will be notified of our decision by Friday 8 June. If the decision is positive, you will be asked to submit title and workshop description, any AV requests, a first draft of any materials for your workshop, your brief biography, and a headshot by Friday 15 June. Workshops and masterclasses are held Saturday 20 October 2012.

High School Competition Winners

Thank you again to all of the high school groups for their submissions and to the selected finalists and their friends and families to made the trip to Schaumburg this past Saturday for AcappellaFest^TM Chicago 2010. We appreciate your support and hope to see all of you again next time!

Grand Champion: Cloud 9

1st Runner Up: Plainfield East Vocal Jazz Ensemble

2nd Runner Up: Heart & Soul

Audience Favorite: Cloud 9

Each winning group took home a coveted trophy!

Cloud 9 won the opportunity to open for Chapter 6 on Saturday night and they took the stage by storm! The audience was amazed with a mash-up of “Take Me Out” and “Crazy” and a nice rendition of “Stacey’s Mom.”

After a heated round of submissions, our online judging panel has spoken. The 5 high school groups competing at AcappellaFest^TM Chicago are:

Burlington A Cappella Choir (Burlington, Wisconsin)
John Hersey Commercial Break (Arlington Heights, Illinois)
John Hersey Heart & Soul (Arlington Heights, Illinois)
Plainfield East Vocal Jazz Ensemble (Plainfield, Illinois)
Waubonsie Valley Cloud 9 (Aurora, Illinois)

These groups are competing for trophies and the ultimate prize of opening for the festival headliner Chapter 6!
